Please widely share and sign onto this petition to the Government of Canada that will publicly recognize American efforts towards a single-payer, universal healthcare program.
We have 120 days to receive enough signatures to warrant a presentation in the House of Commons. Within 45 calendar days the Government’s response will become a sessional paper recorded in the Journals and published on the Parliament of Canada’s website with the petition.
Please help make this small gesture of support toward universal healthcae in the United States.
Sponsored by MP Niki Ashton (NDP, Churchill—Keewatinook Aski) and Initiated by Helen Zacharias from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on November 24, 2017.
I know that Canadians are well-known throughout the world as gentle and kind people. Be a little bit louder! Stand up and fight for what you have achieved, and defend it… nothing is perfect, people have different points of view about everything. But when you accomplish something significant, like guaranteeing health care to all people, stand up and defend that all over the world! … what is very important in the American debate is to have not only Canadians, but people all over the world standing up and saying ‘Health care is a right’… and we need you to say those things so that those of us in the United States who are fighting these fights are not told, ‘Oh what you’re saying is too radical, it can’t happen.’ We want to join you and say, ‘Well it is happening actually, in countries all over the world’… So we need your help. Stand up. Fight for your country to do even better but defend with pride what you have achieved.
